SUNBURST, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is designing plans for a project that will update and replace sidewalk, curb and gutter, and new curb ramps at select corners on 1st Street North, 3rd Avenue West, 3rd Street South, 2nd Street South, 1st Avenue West, and Main Street in Sunburst.
This project was initiated through MDT's Transportation Alternatives (TA) program. It will address connectivity, safety, and Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance issues at several locations along the popular routes between Sunburst Schools and the town
center. Pedestrians traveling to and from residential areas, both schools, and in the Main Street area will be impacted. The purpose of
the Sidewalks - Sunburst project will improve nonmotorized travel, update facilities to meet ADA requirements, and enhance safety
features for all users.
MDT and its consultant engineering firm, KLJ, look forward to moving this project towards construction, providing a safe and ADA compliant connection between the schools and the community. The public and landowners will be contacted prior to any construction activity.
