BUTTE, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and
Intermountain Construction Services have substantially finished a
project that replaced two narrow bridges and reconstructed about 1
mile of Browns Gulch Road north of Rocker in Silver Bow County.

"We'd like to especially thank the residents living near the project
area for their patience during construction," said Shane Clary, MDT
Engineering Project Manager. "We expect the improvements made this
summer to serve the community for a long time."

Improvements included replacing the bridges at Bull Run Creek and
Browns Gulch Creek, adjusting the roadway alignment to provide
motorists with better sight distances, flattening steep side slopes,
and installing a historical marker for Browns Gulch School. Crews
also added new guardrail, asphalt pavement, fencing, and updated
signage.

"We'd also like to thank Intermountain Construction Services for
their hard work to get a majority of the work completed this year,"
said Clary. "They will return next year to wrap up the chip seal and
apply the final pavement markings."

Work on this project began in March. Crews plan to return in summer
2025 to apply the seal and cover (chip seal) which will extend the
service life of the pavement, and the final pavement markings. This
work should take only a few weeks to complete.
