approximately 3 miles of roadway in five locations in urban Great Falls for the winter. This project includes new pavement markings,
signage, sidewalk and curb adjustments, and one Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb reconstruction.
Crews have made significant progress this fall. They completed milling, paving, and sealing treatments on River Drive North and Park Drive North. Additionally, they reconstructed a curb at the southwest corner of Park Drive North and 6th Street North and installed an ADA curb where the River's Edge Trail crosses River Drive North.
"Thank you so much to everyone for your patience, watching out for work crews, and safely following traffic control. We completed the largest portions of this project on schedule this fall, and we're excited to get back at it in the spring to seal and preserve the
remaining routes," said Kas Manderle, Great Falls District engineering project manager.
Great Falls District Administrator Jim Wingerter added, "We truly appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout construction.
Together, we're building a safer and more durable transportation system that will serve the Great Falls community for years to come."
The remaining work, consisting of scrub sealing, will take place next spring at the following locations:
- Park Drive North / 2nd Street South from 1st Avenue North to the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and 2nd Street South, then continuing south on 2nd Street South to 10th Avenue South.
- 6th Street North from 8th Avenue North to River Drive North.
- 3rd Avenue South from 2nd Street South to River Drive South.
Specific sections may be temporarily closed, and travelers may need alternative routes. MDT will notify the public of any closures and the specific timelines for each section of work as we get closer to resuming work in the spring.
When traveling during construction season, watch for the "cone zone" and workers on the roadway. Crews spend their days working a short distance from moving vehicles, and while they make every effort to work safely, they count on you to pay attention, slow down, and be careful as you pass through a work zone.
