CUT BANK, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce that a construction contract has recently been awarded to Helena Sand & Gravel to build a shared-use path in Cut Bank.

The project begins near where the existing path at Anna Jefferies School intersects Secondary Highway 213 (S 213), near the Cut Bank city limits, and extends east to Nyhagen Road. The path then extends along the south side of Nyhagen Road for about a mile to just west of the access road to the sports complex, where it turns south in between two existing fence lines for approximately half a mile and ends at Old Kevin Highway.

Proposed work includes installing approximately 1.5 miles of shared-use path in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards, including grading, gravel, asphalt surfacing, concrete surfacing, and drainage improvements. In addition, fencing, signage, striping, and revegetation activities will occur.

The purpose of the project is to provide a non-motorized facility to safely route users to and from the sports complex, the Glacier County Historical Museum, nearby properties, and area schools.

Construction activities are planned to begin in April, and will last approximately 2 months, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting.

The public is encouraged to contact Rich Hibl, District Construction Engineer at 406-454-5910 or Joe Grosswiler, Engineering Project Manager at 406-873-8624 with questions or comments about the project.
