BELGRADE & BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to resurface about 6 miles of Interstate 90 (I-90), between Belgrade and Bozeman. The project begins east of the Belgrade Airway Boulevard Interchange, exit 299, and extends east, ending at the North Rouse Avenue/Railroad Overpass.
Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement markings, signage, guardrail, and minor bridge rehabilitation activities. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the roadway and enhance safety features.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2026 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Butte office, PO Box 3068, Butte, MT 59702-3068. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10253000.
The public is encouraged to contact Butte District Preconstruction Engineer Brandon Jones at 406-494-9622 or Project Design Engineer Rebecca Barbula at 406-444-6227 with questions or comments about the project.
