TOSTON, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal that will remove the structure that crosses the Missouri River just west of Toston on off-system route Highway 287 Bypass.
Proposed work includes removing the deck, the superstructure, and the piers that are in the Missouri River. The purpose of this project is to remove a bridge that has been closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2026 depending on completion of design and availability of funds.
An important part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the community. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Butte office, PO Box 3068, Butte, MT 59702-3068.
