CONRAD, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to resurface about 5 miles of the Interstate 15 (I-15) Business Loop through Conrad. The project begins at the Midway Road Interchange south of Conrad, and extends north to the Conrad Interchange, ending near the Conrad Rest Area.
Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement markings, and signage. The Conrad Rest Area parking lot will receive a chip seal and new striping. Sidewalk ramps at the intersection of 4th Avenue will be upgraded to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The purpose of the project is to address pavement conditions and extend the service life of the roadway.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2027 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Great Falls office, PO Box 1359, Great Falls, MT 59403-1359. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10242000.
The public is encouraged to contact Great Falls District Preconstruction Engineer James Combs at 406-454-5900 or Project Design Engineer Chris Ward at 406-454-5894 with questions or comments about the project.
