Guardrail & fencing replacement on I-90

HAUGEN and BEARMOUTH, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), along with construction partner Mountain West Holding Company, Inc., will replace existing fence sections and existing guardrail sections that are beyond repair throughout the Interstate 90 (I-90) corridor in MDT’s Missoula District.

The project begins 2 miles west of Haugen at mile marker 14.6 and extends east about 59 miles to just west of the Alberton Interchange ending at mile marker 73.8.

The project resumes on I-90 approximately 2 miles west of the Clinton interchange at mile marker 118.8 and extends approximately 6 miles east to west of the Rock Creek interchange, ending at mile marker 124.5.

The third section begins East of the Bearmouth Interchange at mile marker 138.8 and extends east about 11 miles, ending about 3.5 miles west of Drummond.

The purpose of this project is to replace the existing fence and guardrail that is in a state of disrepair to enhance safety features for those traveling on I-90.

The work is scheduled to begin the week of March 3 and is anticipated to take two seasons to be completed, weather and other factors permitting. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Expect 10 to 15-minute delays, reduced speeds, and single-lane traffic when traveling through the project area. For the most up-to-date width restrictions and road conditions visit 511mt.net.

The public is encouraged to contact Joan Redeen at 406-396-1978 with any questions or comments.
