Crews installing wildlife fencing on I-90 near Drummond
DRUMMOND, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), and construction partner WUTKE, LLC, will begin installing wildlife safety improvements along a 10-mile stretch of Interstate 90 (I-90). The project begins approximately 1 mile east of Drummond and continues east, ending at the Gold Creek Interchange.
Improvements include wildlife fencing, jump outs, cattle guard replacement, and access gates.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of February 24, weather and other factors permitting, and is anticipated to last for approximately six months. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The purpose of this project is to enhance safety along this segment of I-90 by reducing the frequency and severity of animal vehicle collisions.
Travelers should expect shoulder work, lane closures and reduced speeds when traveling through the project area. For the most up-to-date width restrictions and road conditions, visit 511mt.net.
