LEWISTOWN, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and partner Riverside Contracting Inc. are resuming construction on the Lewistown ADA Upgrades project, which will upgrade sidewalks, ramps, approaches, and install new signage along 1st Avenue North and 1st Avenue South from Broadway Street to Upper Spring Creek Road in Lewistown.

Work will consist of removing the existing concrete to make way for the upgrades. All Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades are planned to be completed in the coming few months, though the work is dependent on weather and other unforeseen factors.

In total, 17 ADA corner ramps, 29 sign replacements, 26 reconstructed approaches, and more than 11,000 square feet of new sidewalk are planned to enhance safety and accessibility for all users.

The Lewistown ADA Upgrades project is part of MDT’s effort to improve pedestrian facilities state-wide. These improvements will bring sidewalk access into compliance with the revised ADA standards, allowing improved access for everyone.
