MISSOULA, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and project partners invite the public and media to attend an open house to learn about design and construction plans for both the US Highway 93 (US 93) - Ninepipe Eagle Pass Trail and US 93 North - Post Creek Hill projects. MDT and partners are currently in the design phase for both projects.

“US 93 is a high priority for MDT. Thanks to grant funding, we can move forward with these vital improvements to the St. Ignatius, Post Creek, and Ninepipe areas,” Missoula District Administrator Bob Vosen said. “Wildlife accommodations are among a few of the exciting, and much needed, enhancements planned within these construction projects.”

To see the plans, all are encouraged to stop by at any time during an in-person open house to be held on Thursday, May 1, at the Ninepipes Lodge in the “Montana” Conference Room from 4 to 7 p.m. Design drafts and early construction information for both projects will be available at the event. Project experts will be on hand to answer questions. MDT will not have a formal presentation.

The US 93 North – Post Creek Hill project will reconstruct US 93 from Red Horn Road/Dublin Gulch Road to Gunlock Road/Olsen Road to include safety and accessibility enhancements and wildlife accommodations. Improvements include widening the roadway to include 8-foot-wide shoulders, a northbound truck climbing lane at Post Creek Hill, left-turn lanes at major intersections, a new bridge over Post Creek that facilitates wildlife movement, and a shared-use path.

Improvements on US 93 for the Ninepipe Eagle Pass Trail effort will include work from Brooke Lane to south of Eagle Pass Trail in the Ninepipe area. The project will construct three new highway bridges, a wildlife overpass, a shared-use path, wildlife fencing and other accommodation features, intersection improvements, a widened typical section, and drainage upgrades.
