SUPERIOR, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) will be conducting bridge inspections on Interstate 90 (I-90) during the month of May. Inspections will be conducted on 13 bridges near Alberton and Superior, between mile markers 53 and 70.
Inspections will occur weather permitting. MDT will have an Under Bridge Inspection Vehicle (UBIV) in place to conduct the inspections. Each bridge inspection is anticipated to take 1 to 4 days to complete.
MDT performs regular condition inspections of all in-service, publicly owned bridges in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). A bridge inspection provides information about a specific bridge’s condition, which plays a key role in MDT’s mission to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system.
Traffic control will be in place while crews are present. Traffic will be restricted to one lane at times and travelers should expect reduced speeds of 35 mph in the work zones. For the most up-to-date width restrictions and road conditions, visit 511mt.net.
The public is encouraged to contact Joan Redeen at 406-396-1978 with any questions or comments.
