TAFT, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), along with construction partner Acme Concrete Paving, Inc., have begun pavement reconstruction activities on Interstate 90 (I-90). The project begins 3 miles east of the Montana/Idaho border, at mile marker 3.4, and continues east for approximately 3 miles, ending near the Taft Interchange at mile marker 5.7.

With the start of cycling season, MDT is taking measures to ensure that cyclists can access the Hiawatha Trail. The Taft parking area will be open. Westbound I-90 travelers leaving the Taft parking area must follow the detour signage east to the Saltese Interchange, then back west to I-90.

Expect reduced speeds of 35 mph, lane shifts with crossovers to shift all traffic to the eastbound side, and single-lane traffic when traveling through the project area. Traffic may be routed onto the interstate shoulder when work is occurring. For the most up-to-date width restrictions and road conditions, visit 511mt.net.

Updates on this project can be found on the MDT website here: mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/i90lookout/
