LIBBY, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), along with partner LHC, Inc., will begin a pavement preservation project on Secondary Highway 482 (S 482), commonly known as Farm to Market Road. The project begins south of Libby, near the intersection with Farmers Flat Road and continues for approximately 3 miles, ending at the intersection with Hammer Cutoff Road.
Improvements will include milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), fog seal, and new signage and pavement markings. The purpose of this project is to extend the service life of the roadway.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 9 and continue through July, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting. Crews will be working Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Expect flaggers, traffic lights, and pilot cars guiding traffic, 10 to 15-minute delays, reduced speeds, and single-lane traffic when traveling through the project area. Follow all posted signage and watch for workers. For the most up-to-date information, visit 511mt.net.
