BILLINGS, Mont. – Today, the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) announced that the temporary connection to a portion of the NE Billings Bypass will open to the public on Thursday, July 3.

“This is an exciting moment for the project team, our stakeholders and the community,” said Mike Taylor, MDT Billings District Administrator. “The opening of this temporary connection is a major milestone for the project and signifies the halfway point in the construction of the Billings Bypass corridor.”

Through traffic from Billings Heights must access the connection via Old Highway 312 and Five Mile Road. From Lockwood, through traffic should access the connection via the existing Coulson Road on the west side. Please be advised that Mary Street and Dover Road are available for local access only.

The next segment of the project will be the Johnson Lane Interchange, which is expected to be let to construction in fiscal year (FY) 26. For more information on the Billings Bypass project and to learn about the specific project segments, please visit:  mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/billingsbypass/.
