BILLINGS, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal that will resurface about 3 miles of US Highway 113 (US 113), commonly known as Laurel Road, in Billings. The project begins near the Mullowney Lane overpass, and extends east, ending near the intersection with Montana Avenue and Division Street.
Proposed work includes milling and paving select sections, seal and cover (chip seal), pouring new concrete aprons around utility covers, and new pavement markings. The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the existing asphalt surface.
Construction is tentatively planned beyond MDT's 5-year planning horizon, but has the potential to begin earlier depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way will be needed. Relocation of utilities may be necessary. MDT staff will contact affected landowners prior to construction regarding temporary permits.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Billings office, PO Box 20437, Billings, MT 59104-0437. Please note that comments are for project UPN 9998001.
The public is encouraged to contact Project Design Engineer Kyle Shuck at 406-670-8630 or Billings District Preconstruction Engineer Kurtis Schnieber at 406-670-9820 with questions or comments about the project.
