LEWISTOWN, Mont. – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner, Kiewit, are progressing with the MT 200 Bridges Lewistown Area project. Crews are currently paving bridges #5990 through #5994. In the coming weeks, paving is expected to begin on bridges #5995 through #5997, followed by bridge #6005.
Before paving began, crews completed many key portions of the project, including drainage improvements, installing culverts, and constructing new bridge decks. At some locations, traffic was shifted back onto the main roadway, while others remain on detours as work on the new bridges continues.
Traffic control varies by site and may change as construction progresses. Motorists traveling through the project area should expect a 16-foot width restriction, reduced speeds, detours, alternating traffic, occasional single lane traffic, and possible delays.
This project includes reconstructing ten bridges along US 87/MT 200 in the Lewistown area, replacing the aging structures with new bridges or culverts. Construction began in April and is expected to continue through 2026.
MDT thanks the public for their patience and reminds drivers to stay alert and follow posted signs when traveling through the work zone.
