TAFT, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), along with construction partner Acme Concrete Paving, Inc., have completed construction activities in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 (I-90). The project location begins 3 miles east of the Montana/Idaho border and continues east for approximately 3 miles, ending near the Taft Interchange. The project runs from mile marker 3.4 to mile marker 5.7.

This summer, crews replaced deteriorating asphalt pavement with new, durable concrete pavement, as well as upgraded surface drainage, replaced culverts, replaced concrete barriers, improved roadway lighting, and installed new signage. Crews will return in 2026 to seal and cover (chip seal) the westbound lanes.

Updates on this project can be found on the MDT website here: mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/i90lookout/.

The public is encouraged to contact Joan Redeen at 406-396-1978 with any questions or comments.
