BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has partnered with Riverside Contracting, Inc., to complete the Billings ADA Upgrades project. The project is taking place along King Avenue South, from 24th Street West to the Interstate 90 (I-90) City Center westbound on-ramp in Billings. To enhance safety and accessibility for all users, improvements include upgrading 19 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) corner ramps, reconstructing one approach at the Lithia Dealership, upgrading the electrical pedestrian crossing signals, and updating pavement markings.
All concrete work is substantially complete, including reconstructing the approach and corner ramps. Remaining ADA improvements include electrical upgrades to the pedestrian crossing signals and updates to the pavement markings, which are expected to begin in the next couple of weeks. All ADA upgrades are planned to be completed this fall, depending on weather and other unforeseen factors.
The Billings ADA Upgrades project is part of MDT’s effort to improve pedestrian facilities state-wide. These improvements will bring sidewalk access into compliance with the revised ADA standards, allowing improved access for everyone.
