BILLINGS, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal that will resurface about 1.5 miles of Stave Avenue, in southeast Billings. The project begins at the intersection with 1st Avenue South, and extends east, ending near the intersection with 27th Street.

Proposed work includes seal and cover (chip seal), crack seal, fog seal, and upgraded pavement markings. The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the existing pavement.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2027 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.

Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Billings office, PO Box 20437, Billings, MT 59104-0437. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10704000.

The public is encouraged to contact Project Design Engineer Kyle Shuck at 406-670-8630 or Billings District Project Development Engineer Kurtis Schnieber at 406-670-9820 with questions or comments about the project.
