BILLINGS, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal that will resurface about 1.5 miles of Montana Highway N-114A, located in southeast Billings. The project begins just west of Orchard Lane on State Avenue, and extends onto 1st Avenue South, ending near the 27th Street and 1st Avenue South intersection.
Proposed work includes milling the existing pavement, digging out deteriorated roadway sections, performing an underseal (a chip seal under the new pavement), applying a new overlay, and finishing with upgraded pavement markings and new signage. The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the existing asphalt surfacing and enhance roadway safety for the traveling public.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2027 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Billings office, PO Box 20437, Billings, MT 59104-0437. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10692000.
The public is encouraged to contact Project Design Engineer Kyle Shuck at 406-670-8630 or Billings District Project Development Engineer Kurtis Schnieber at 406-670-9820 with questions or comments about the project.
