MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), in partnership with the City of Missoula and WGM Group, continues to make progress on the Russell Street corridor. The area on Russell Street, between Dakota Street and Mount Avenue, and on West Broadway Street, between Toole Avenue and Mullan Road has been under design and early plans are ready to be shared with the public.
The project team invites you to attend a community meeting to learn more about the Russell Street Corridor design. The event will be held at the Salvation Army at 355 S Russell Street on Wednesday, February 18, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be no formal presentation given. All are welcome to stop by anytime.
"Russell and Broadway Streets are central to Missoula’s transportation network," John Schmidt, MDT Missoula District Administrator, said. “We look forward to sharing design details with the public and hearing feedback as we get closer to construction."
Russell Street Corridor design and right-of-way activities are taking place through early 2029, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in the spring of 2029. MDT has now reached the 30% design plan milestone for Russell Street between Dakota Street to Mount Avenue and on Broadway Street from Toole Avenue to Mullan Road. This includes preliminary design elements and a better understanding of area impacts.
With multiple projects along the corridor over the next few years, the City of Missoula and MDT recognize the importance of proactive communication and collaboration among local-area projects, businesses, and the affected public. Safety is the top priority for all project teams involved.
