HELENA, Mont. – The Montana Aeronautics Board awarded approximately $3.33 million in airport grant and loan funding for state fiscal year (FY) 2027 during its January meeting. This funding will support infrastructure and safety improvements at 46 public use airports across Montana.

Out of Montana’s 126 airports, 71 are federally funded. State grant and loan awards made to federally funded airports leverage significant federal dollars for major construction and rehabilitation projects. Each year, airport sponsors submit proposals for a variety of projects to receive these dollars.

For FY 2027, $5.1 million was requested in state assistance, reflecting strong demand for pavement preservation, safety enhancements, and capacity upgrades. After careful review, the Montana Aeronautics Board awarded all available grant funding, supporting both federally funded and non-federally funded efforts at airports of all sizes statewide.
