SWAN LAKE, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) along with construction partner LHC, Inc., will resurface about 11 miles of Montana Highway 83 (MT 83), north and south of Swan Lake. The project begins just north of the Goat Creek Bridge, and extends north, ending near the intersection of MT 83 and Montana Highway 209 (MT 209). No work will occur from just north of Soup Creek Bridge to just north of Sixmile Creek Bridge.

Proposed work includes applying paving fabric, crack seal, seal and cover (chip seal), fog seal, upgraded pavement markings, signage, delineation, and low noise centerline rumble strips. MT 83 from Goat Creek to Soup Creek will also receive an asphalt overlay. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life and improve the ride of the existing pavement.

The project is anticipated to begin the week of April 6 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of August, weather and other factors permitting. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The purpose of this construction project is to extend the service life of the roadway.

Expect flaggers, temporary traffic lights, and pilot cars guiding traffic, 10 to 15-minute delays, reduced speeds, and single-lane traffic when traveling through the project area. Follow all posted signage and watch for workers. For the most up-to-date information, visit 511mt.net.

The public is encouraged to contact Joan Redeen at 406-396-1978 with any questions or comments.
