CHOTEAU, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner, M.A. DeAtley Construction, Inc., will begin construction on the US Highway 89 (US 89) Choteau-South project in mid-March, weather and other factors permitting.

The project will repave the road, widen the shoulders, flatten the side slopes and ease sharp curves. Crews will also replace drainage structures, including the bridge over the Teton River, add passing areas, update signs and rumble strips, and build wildlife pullouts. The purpose of the project is to extend the pavement life and enhance safety along the roadway.

No detour is scheduled. Drivers will be able to continue crossing the Teton River while the new bridge is constructed.

The public is encouraged to contact Laura Langdon at 406-447-3354 with questions or comments about the project. More information can be found on the project website.
