POTOMAC, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), along with construction partner Knife River, Inc., will resurface about 6 miles of Montana Highway 200 (MT 200) during the 2026 construction season. The project begins just west of Potomac Road and extends east, ending just past the intersection with Garnet Range Road, extending from mile markers 16 to 23.

Work is anticipated to begin the week of April 26 and be completed by the end of August, weather and other factors permitting. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Improvements to this stretch of MT 200 will include milling and paving operations. Upon completion of the milling and paving operations, crews will return to the project area and complete a seal and cover (chip seal), installation of rumble strips, and new pavement markings.

The purpose of this construction project is to extend the service life of the existing roadway.

Motorists should expect flaggers, temporary traffic lights and pilot cars guiding traffic, 10 to 15-minute delays, reduced speeds, and single-lane traffic when traveling through the project area. Follow all posted signage and watch for workers. For the most up-to-date information, visit 511mt.net.

The public is encouraged to contact Joan Redeen at 406-396-1978 with any questions or comments.
