LEWISTOWN, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal to make safety improvements on about 1 mile of Secondary Highway 238 (S 238), commonly known as E Fork Road. The project begins southeast of Lewistown and ends near the intersection with Forest Grove Road.
Proposed work includes adding guardrail on the southwest side of the road. The purpose of the project is to enhance roadway safety features to address an identified crash trend at this location.
Construction is tentatively planned beyond MDT's 5-year planning horizon, but has the potential to begin earlier depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Billings office, PO Box 20437, Billings, MT 59104-0437. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10705000.
The public is encouraged to contact Billings District Preconstruction Engineer Kurtis Schnieber at 406-657-0269 or Project Design Engineer Sabastian Lucio at 406-345-8243 with questions or comments about the project.
