PLAINS, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), along with construction partner Riverside Contracting, Inc., will begin a pavement preservation project on Montana Highway 200 (MT 200), west of Dixon. Work is anticipated to begin the week of June 1, weather and other factors permitting.
The project begins about 5 miles east of the intersection with Montana Highway 135 (MT 135), and continues 8 miles east, ending near Vandenburg Creek, extending from mile marker 90.5 to 99.
Improvements include milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement markings, and signage. The purpose of this project is to extend the service life of the roadway.
Construction is anticipated to be completed by the middle of October. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Travelers can expect single-lane traffic controlled by flaggers, traffic signals, pilot cars, and delays up to 15 minutes. Please follow all posted signage and reduced speeds through the project area. For the most up-to-date information, visit https://www.511mt.net/.
