ALBERTON, Mont. (May 8, 2026) — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), in partnership with Morrison-Maierle, will host an open house to share designed pedestrian improvements along Railroad Avenue in Alberton on May 26.
The Railroad Avenue Walks — Alberton project will upgrade sidewalks, crosswalks, and updated signage to meet current Americans with Disability Act (ADA) standards. Railroad Avenue serves as Alberton’s primary roadway and provides home, school, and local business access.
Project design will be completed in 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in Spring 2027. The project team is inviting the public to attend an open house to learn more about the upcoming project and provide feedback.
Open House
Date: May 26
Time: 4 to 6 p.m. (drop in anytime during open house hours)
Location: Alberton School K-12, 306 Railroad Avenue, Alberton, MT 59820
This corridor was nominated for improvements by the Town of Alberton as existing sidewalks and pedestrian routes have deteriorated over time. The upgrades will enhance safety and accessibility for people walking, biking, and using mobility devices.
